Email me?

Could you email me at david (at) midrange.com?

I've got some questions for you.

Upgraded mediawiki

I upgraded to Mediawiki 1.8.2.

Let me know if you see any problems.

comments in stubs?

Any idea how to have a HTML comment included in a stub?

I would like to have the stub text excluded from the google adsense content scanning ... but the comments seem to be removed.

See http://wiki.midrange.com/index.php/Template:Stub

Mediawiki 1.9.0

Upgraded. Let me know if you see anything odd.

Uploads should be fixed now

.

$wgNamespacesWithSubpages[NS_TEMPLATE] = true;

Ok, made the change.

ParserFunctions Extension

Installed

Redirect...

I entered WDSCi in search and got a not found. When I entered WDSC I got "redirected"... Can you set up a redirect from WDSCi to WDSC?

Dave

Re: Redirects for WDSCi

Sounds good to me.

Is there any wikimedia access that you would find helpful that I could grant?

Re: Recent change counts

Green for positive numbers and red for negative?

Cite Extension installed

It would be helpful to have the Cite extension installed here. It makes doing footnotes/references/citations/whatever you want to call them easier, as it is done in a common way, with automagic links within the article

I've installed the Cite extension.

FWIW: In the future, it's better to email me directly instead of leaving a note on my Talk page.

Signature?

What's {{unsigned|Starbuck5250}} mean?

CLP Category and others

The {{ccl|CLP}} recent change on the Main page is showing on my browser as [[Category:CLP]], should it not just show CLP. I dont know how to fix as I dont know templates yet, and anyhow I dont have access to the Main Page of MidrangeWiki. FKOL 01:02, 10 January 2008 (CST)

Thank you for the explanation on the templates. Also thanks for the Welcome, from what I see you have quite an influence on Wiki's. I have seen references to Wiki Champions, Gnomes (maybe me), Faries and others but I think there should be a reference to Wiki Superhero which it seems to me, describes you.

I am not sure how to go about setting up a Citations and References page , what format it should have and where I should put it. I could just put it at the base of the page I am editing. Any suggestions, please. FKOL 19:26, 10 January 2008 (CST)

32K Limit

I had a message pop up that the page I was editing, WDSC tips, was getting close to 32K and that I should consider splitting it up. Is this really a problem. How big can the wiki pages be. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by FKOL (talkcontribs). FKOL 20:00, 10 March 2008 (CDT)

Show TOC from sub-pages on Main Page, and link

Hi. I dont know if I am expressing this correctly. You split some of the WDSCi Tips into sub-pages, for which I offer thanks. I then split all the sections on the Tips into sub-pages. But I am not happy with the results. What I would like to see is the TOC of each sub-page automatically appear on the main page. I could manually put in links on the main page to each sub-page heading, (very tedious) and also tedious to maintain. I still may do this if there is not an easier way. Then a click on a TOC link would pull up the sub-page. Anyhow I am not expecting much can be done , but I ask the question just in case. FKOL 20:00, 10 March 2008 (CDT)

Hi again. I have manually added the 'pseudo TOC' to the 'Wiki Tips' page. I am happy to maintain the links manually, but you can see what I was after, to get the TOC automatically on another page. FKOL 18:48, 12 March 2008 (CDT)

WDSC Articles at Bottom of Page

Hi. I feel that it would make the page more useful to have the 'Articles' at the top of the page. I tried to edit the page to do this but it looks like this is a Wiki controlled thing. Do you have any suggestions, please. FKOL 02:54, 13 March 2008 (CDT)

This is what I see. The top panel I see first, to get to the Articles I need to page pown. I would like to see the articles first, but under the TOC.

Error on page

On page http://wiki.midrange.com/index.php/WDSC_tips I get an error message on my browser 'Done, but with errors on page.' The error details say Error: Expected '}'. I tried to find and fix the error but I did not use curly braces in this page. Any ideas on where I can go to fix this. Tnx FKOL 21:46, 25 March 2008 (CDT)

Thanks for the info. The message now only says Done. , so whatever it was its gone away now.FKOL 01:31, 27 March 2008 (CDT)

Some questions. SMTP and Snippets and QTEMP

I sent Buck some questions. He suggests contact you. Can you have a look at the questions and let me know what you think please.

Hi. I think there is a question with how the 'wiki' attributes 'based on work'. For instance on the QTEMP page it says 'based on work by Mr Dolomite and Frank' but Buck was responsible for the page so I believe it should say 'based on work by Buck'. If you know I would appreciate your views on this issue. Thanks FKOL 18:23, 19 May 2008 (CDT)

Sorry to jump in here, but I've seen this asked before on other media wikis. It seems that the last person to edit is page is never listed in the based on work by section. Since Buck make the last change his name only appears under last changed by. Should someone else change that page now, his name will move back to based on work by. A small change to credits.php might be able to fix this. --NJR ZA 15:00, 20 May 2008 (CDT)
No problem, thanks for the info. Yes, probably something in Special:Allmessages - PHP or another config file isn't quite right. Since everything posted on the wiki is released under the GNU Free Documentation License 1.2, it kind of belongs to "everyone". But when I've wanted to know who actually contributed to an article to see how it developed or changed, I use article's History page QTEMP - history. Yeah, it can be an overdetailed listing, but IMHO it is an improvement over that tiny snippet of info in that "based on work by". And many wikis do not even have that feature turned on, as it can be CPU intensive according to mediawiki:Manual:$wgMaxCredits. — MrDolomite • Talk 15:51, 20 May 2008 (CDT)

Large Wiki page Snippets

I tried to add some code I saw from Scott Klement to the Snippets, but it failed.

The Snippets is getting quite big. Should I start creating multiple pages for any new programs I want to put in the wiki. --FKOL 00:25, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Upgraded

I upgraded the wiki to 1.16.0.

Let me know if you seen any problems.
