Diskettes are a low capacity, portable, storage medium for computers. They are often used for backup purposes and transporting data when network access is not available.

• 3.5 inch
• 5.25 inch
• 8 inch
• possibly others

Currently, most computers use 3.5 inch diskettes ... if they have diskette drives at all.

The AS/400 used to use 8 inch diskettes ... but modern computing hardware and techniques have rendered them obsolete.
