5722-DB1 is an LPP of OS/400, full name is IBM System/38 Utilities for IBM i [1]. Its purpose is to allow utilities written on System/38 to run on IBM i. There are 3 utilities included:

  • DFU/38
  • Query/38
  • Text Management/38

DFU/38

DFU/38 can be thought of as a keypunch machine emulator running on the green screen interface. It has several keypunch machine features like accumulators and verify mode.

  • CRTDFUDEF
  • DLTDFUAPP
  • DSNDFUAPP
  • RTVDFUSRC

Query/38

Query/38 was the general purpose interface to run simple reports over database files.

  • DLTQRYAPP
  • RTVQRYSRC

Text Management/38

Text Management/38 was a simple green screen interface word processing program.

Commands:

  • EDTTXT
